About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Pharmacy Intern position for Summer 2026. Interns will work on-site in Madison, Mississippi, supporting pharmacy operations and patient care under the supervision of a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system and dispense the correct medication.
- Contact prescribers' offices for authorization and communicate with insurance companies as needed.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Support pharmacy operations by managing inventory, stocking orders, and maintaining a clean department.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Interact with customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs, to ensure a welcoming and helpful environment.
- Handle administrative tasks such as processing third-party insurance and facilitating charge purchases.
- Maintain safety standards by reporting risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss them competently with customers and prescribers.
- Strong interpersonal skills to promote trust, respect, and a positive customer experience.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-demand environment and manage conflict in a professional, nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to maintaining honesty and integrity regarding business and patient information.
