About the role#
This pharmacy intern position supports our retail operations in Memphis. You will work under the guidance of a pharmacist to provide patient care and maintain department standards. This role is part time and requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming customer experience and answer questions about store products.
- Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies for necessary authorizations.
- Process third party insurance information and facilitate customer purchases.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including stocking orders and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized department environment.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high demand environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and patient information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Capacity to interact effectively with minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
