About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site in a retail setting to support pharmacy operations. This is a paid, part-time position with a rolling term. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide patient care and maintain pharmacy standards.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense the correct medication.
- Contact prescribers offices for authorization.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Process third-party insurance information and contact insurance companies when necessary.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill or refill.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and manage inventory by checking incoming orders and stocking shelves.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively and manage conflict in a professional manner.
- Commitment to maintaining honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
