About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy department by providing direct patient care and ensuring accurate prescription processing. This role involves working under the supervision of a pharmacist to deliver quality service while maintaining a clean and safe environment for all customers. You will act as a resource for patients and healthcare providers, requiring a professional and helpful approach at all times.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and offer recommendations for over the counter medications.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the computer system.
- Dispense medications and accept oral or written prescriptions for processing.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies as needed to resolve authorization issues.
- Administer immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and returning medication bottles.
- Keep the department clean and organized.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or prescription incidents to management immediately.
- Support diverse customer groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high demand environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling business and customer information.
- Capacity to follow directions and seek help when resolving issues.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
