About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you support the pharmacy team by providing direct customer service and handling clinical tasks. You help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all customers. This role requires working on-site and cooperating with pharmacy staff to ensure accurate prescription processing and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense medications and bag filled prescriptions for delivery to customers.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to secure necessary authorizations.
- Accept and interpret written or oral prescriptions for new fills and refills.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including stocking incoming orders and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean department and report safety risks or incidents to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong interpersonal skills to assist minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to handle conflict and follow directions in a professional manner.
