About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in providing essential care to our customers. This role focuses on maintaining high standards of service, safety, and accuracy within the pharmacy department. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to assist with daily operations and patient interactions.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming and helpful environment for every customer.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist customers with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including checking incoming orders and stocking shelves.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized department.
- Support the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report any safety risks, accidents, or illegal activities to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- Current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively and manage conflict in a professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Experience or comfort providing support to diverse groups, including older adults, minors, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
