About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide essential clinical services and support pharmacy operations. This role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring accurate prescription processing, and maintaining pharmacy safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling to customers and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Dispense the correct medication and manage prescription filling, including contacting prescribers for authorization.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Process third-party insurance information and assist customers with billing inquiries.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking products, and returning unused stock.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all customers.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management and the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers, prescribers, and pharmacy staff.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
- Capability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
