About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will assist the pharmacy team in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a safe, clean environment. This role supports department goals for sales and quality assurance while adhering to the Customer 1st strategy. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide patient care and manage pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system and dispense medications accurately.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions and contact prescribers for authorization.
- Process third-party insurance information and assist customers with insurance inquiries.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Facilitate customer transactions and provide support to diverse populations, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment and manage conflict professionally.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Capacity to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
