About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will support the pharmacy team by providing direct patient care, managing prescription processing, and maintaining department standards. This role focuses on delivering exceptional service while ensuring the safety and accuracy of pharmaceutical operations.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and over the counter medication recommendations to customers.
- Accurately input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense medications and facilitate third-party insurance processing.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization issues.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused bottles.
- Maintain a clean and safe pharmacy environment.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Capability to provide support to diverse populations, including minors and older adults.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
