About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will work in a retail pharmacy setting to support the daily operations of the department. You will assist the pharmacist in providing care to customers while gaining practical experience in pharmaceutical services. This role requires a focus on customer service, accuracy in medication handling, and adherence to safety and legal standards.
What you'll do#
- Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Answer customer questions regarding products and provide drug counseling.
- Assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription information into the computer system accurately.
- Dispense medication and contact prescribers for authorization.
- Process third party insurance information and assist customers with insurance inquiries.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill or refill.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by comparing and checking incoming orders and stocking them properly.
- Maintain a clean department and return unused medication stock bottles.
- Notify management or the pharmacist on duty regarding accidents, incidents, or safety risks.
- Report any illegal activity, including theft or fraud.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced environment.
- Capacity to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Experience or ability to provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
