About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site in a retail environment. This part-time position involves supporting the pharmacy team to provide excellent service and maintain quality assurance standards. You will help create a welcoming environment for customers while demonstrating core values of respect, honesty, and safety.
What you'll do#
- Accept, interpret, and accurately input oral and written prescriptions into the computer system.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate charge purchases.
- Bag and deliver filled prescriptions to customers.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking, stocking, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain a clean department.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or illegal activities to management.
- Promote trust and respect among all associates.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Ability to act with honesty regarding customer and business information.
- Capacity to follow directions and seek help when needed.
- Comfort providing support to minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
