About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Kroger, you will support the pharmacy team in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of care. This role involves direct interaction with patients, collaboration with pharmacists, and operational support within the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products and providing assistance.
- Accurately input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
- Interpret oral and written prescriptions for fill and refill requests.
- Dispense medications and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations and process third-party insurance information.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies as needed.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean and safe pharmacy environment while adhering to all quality assurance standards.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss with customers and prescribers.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a professional environment and manage conflict effectively.
- Strong commitment to honesty, integrity, and safety regarding business and patient information.
- Capability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
