About the role#
This 12-week internship program at Komatsu North America offers engineering students hands-on experience within a structured learning environment. You will gain exposure to quality engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain operations while working alongside experienced engineers on real projects.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and collaborate with quality engineers on manufacturing and quality operations.
- Analyze data from processes, products, suppliers, and customers to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with root cause investigations, corrective actions, process audits, and problem-solving activities.
- Build and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and metrics using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations teams to support continuous improvement and cost reduction.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering program at a 4-year accredited university.
- Ability to apply academic knowledge to real-world manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel pivot tables, and Power BI.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience through work-study, leadership roles, team participation, or professional organizations.
- Familiarity with quality tools and statistical analysis is preferred.

- Location: Peoria, Illinois.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18-$24 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling term. Some travel may be required.
