About the role#
Kirkham Michael is hiring Civil Engineering students for Summer 2027 internships. You will work under the direction of senior team members to gain practical experience. We provide instruction in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation as you apply your education to real projects.
What you'll do#
- Create CAD designs and drawings to assist with project plans.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis.
- Observe on-site construction activities and help with materials testing.
- Perform basic survey services.
- Conduct bridge inspections in the field and help write inspection reports.
- Assist with hydrology and hydraulics studies, bridge load ratings, and permit applications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university majoring in Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to apply fundamental civil engineering concepts and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Locations: Ellsworth, KS; Salina, KS; or Edmond, OK.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Compensation: $20 to $28 per hour, depending on your level of education.
