About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship for students pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. You will work under the direction of a senior team member to gain practical experience with project design and field work. Assignments are tailored to your completed coursework.
What you'll do#
- Create drawings using AutoCAD and OpenRoads Designer to assist in the development of project plans.
- Perform standard engineering computations and analysis.
- Observe construction activities and assist with materials testing.
- Conduct basic survey services.
- Perform bridge inspections in the field and help generate inspection reports.
- Assist with hydrology and hydraulics studies, report preparation, and permit applications.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university as a Civil Engineering major.
- Ability to apply fundamental civil engineering concepts and practices to projects.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional presence with solid decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.
- High level of creativity.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Previous experience in transportation or construction engineering is helpful but not required.
