About the role#
The AI Innovation team at Kinaxis builds intelligence into how enterprises run. We focus on agents that reason about complex problems, decompose them, and orchestrate the tools needed to solve them. You will work alongside a senior architect to explore the frontier of agentic AI, specifically focusing on how to evaluate, monitor, and investigate these systems in a supply chain context.
What you'll do#
- Take on a scoped project within our AI assurance toolkit, focusing on evaluation infrastructure, quality engineering, or security analysis.
- Extend our evaluation harness to improve how runs are configured, executed, and reproduced.
- Investigate how to make evaluation results meaningful by exploring scoring, aggregation, and run-to-run variance.
- Research existing agent evaluation tooling and prototype new ideas.
- Analyze security and trustworthiness, such as how agents handle sensitive context, follow policies, and resist unsafe instructions.
- Build observability tools that help explain agent behavior, including trace analysis and failure categorization.
- Work in a GitHub-native, agentic engineering workflow.
- Share your findings and present your work to the team.
What you'll need#
- Completed 3rd year of, or recently graduated from, a program in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in software quality, reliability, security, or investigation-oriented engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in AI agents and their evaluation.
- Proficiency in Python or a comparable language.
- Experience with Git and GitHub.
- A structured, curious, and skeptical mindset.
- Clear written communication skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and defining approaches where no established answer exists.
Location & details#
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid, minimum three days per week in-office).
- Term: Full-time, 8 or 12-month position starting January 2027.
- Compensation: $27.04 - $39.66 per hour.
