About the role#
As a Video Editing Intern, you will join the corporate Communications team to help tell stories about the people, projects, and innovations at Kimley-Horn. You will focus on post-production, turning raw footage into finished videos for internal and external use. A supervisor will provide mentorship and feedback to help you refine your editing skills and creative judgment. This role requires approximately 10 to 25 hours per week during the academic year, with scheduling flexibility based on your classes and project needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist with video editing, post-production, quality review, and final deliverables.
- Organize project files, manage media assets, and support efficient editing workflows.
- Incorporate feedback from producers, directors, and supervisors into your edits.
- Review projects for accuracy, brand alignment, captions, audio levels, and export settings.
- Collaborate with departments to understand project goals and shape engaging stories.
- Attend meetings and contribute ideas regarding storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.
- Assist with video shoots, set up, and break down equipment as needed.
- Maintain a positive and curious attitude while supporting production tasks.
What you'll need#
- Experience editing video in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong organization and file-management skills.
- Basic knowledge of color correction, audio cleanup, and preparing polished deliverables.
- Ability to follow creative direction, apply feedback, and revise edits with attention to detail.
- Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams and communicating clearly.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt when plans change.
- Reliability when working across multiple projects.
- Interest in shaping stories through pacing, structure, music, sound, and visuals.
- Familiarity with video production equipment like cameras, lighting, or audio is a plus.
- Experience with DaVinci Resolve for color grading is preferred.
- Interest in motion graphics, animation, visual effects, or typography is helpful.
- Familiarity with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or Adobe Audition.
- Experience creating social media video edits.

Location & details#
- This position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Work modality includes on-site, remote, and hybrid options.
- You should be available to work in the office when your school schedule allows, such as during summer break.
- This is a paid internship for students majoring in Media Studies.
