About the role#
As a Motion Design Intern, you will join our corporate Communications team to create motion graphics, animation, and video content. You will help us highlight the people, projects, and innovations that shape communities. You will work with producers, directors, and designers to turn scripts and storyboards into visual stories. A supervisor will guide you through this process, providing mentorship as you build your creative judgment and design skills. This role offers flexibility during the academic year, with an expectation of 10 to 25 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Create and animate graphics for videos, presentations, social media, and internal communications.
- Translate scripts, creative briefs, and storyboards into motion concepts.
- Manage media assets and keep project files organized for efficient workflows.
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders and supervisors during review cycles.
- Review your work for brand alignment, timing, typography, audio levels, and export accuracy.
- Collaborate across departments to help shape visual stories.
- Attend project meetings to contribute ideas regarding pacing, visual clarity, and audience engagement.
What you'll need#
- Experience creating motion graphics or animation in Adobe After Effects.
- Strong design fundamentals including layout, typography, color, and composition.
- Ability to develop visual assets using Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar creative software.
- Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams and communicating across projects.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail when revising work.
- Time management abilities and reliability when handling multiple projects.
- Interest in 3D modeling, character animation, kinetic typography, or data visualization.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and basic video editing workflows.
- Experience with InDesign, Adobe Audition, or video production equipment like cameras and lighting is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- The role is hybrid, with flexibility for remote work during the academic year.
- Candidates should be available to work in the office when school schedules allow, such as during summer break.
