About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in construction management while supporting our field teams. You will learn the programs, regulations, and guidelines used to keep our people safe. This role involves working directly with project teams to ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of each day.
What you'll do#
- Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program.
- Develop site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction project activities to ensure compliance with government, client, and company regulations.
- Establish and monitor safe working conditions.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Implement metrics to track and report on performance issues.
- Review project work plans for accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Assist with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to spot discrepancies.
- Ability to work with all levels of the organization, from craft workers to leadership.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as required.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
