About the role#
As a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term, you will join our team in El Paso, Texas. You will report to a project Safety Manager and focus on the implementation of the Site Specific Safety Plan. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will work directly with operations and craft teams to ensure safety standards are met on the job site.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the craft in the field to support our safety programs.
- Complete daily documented hazard inspections and help implement corrective actions.
- Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies and regulations.
- Assist with the development, review, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan.
- Review work plans and work packs before work begins.
- Support incident investigations and help develop effective solutions.
- Assist with first aid and maintain relationships with local emergency medical services.
- Provide safety training on company policies, procedures, and OSHA/MSHA requirements.
- Maintain project files to ensure compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and Federal/OSHA requirements.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
