About the role#
As a Safety Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the construction industry by supporting our field teams. You will learn the programs, regulations, and guidelines we use to ensure our workforce returns home safely each day. This role involves participating in key safety functions within construction management.
What you'll do#
- Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program.
- Develop site safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with government regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
- Establish and monitor safe working conditions.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Implement metrics to track and report on performance issues.
- Review project work plans for accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Assist with safety program audits, coaching, and onsite training.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction safety and Federal or OSHA requirements is preferred.
- Proficiency with computers, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, from craft workers to leadership.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is a plus.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
