About the role#
As a Quality Intern with the MEC Transportation District, you will assist in the coordination, documentation, and reporting of quality control and quality assurance activities. This role involves working directly on projects to ensure work meets contract requirements, codes, and technical standards. You will work in a field or shop environment.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and perform quality control inspections and tests to align with project schedules.
- Review work packs for readiness before pre-activity meetings and construction execution.
- Manage source and receiving inspections for equipment and permanent materials.
- Evaluate supplier quality documentation to ensure contract compliance.
- Prepare, maintain, and approve inspection and test reports.
- Monitor and forecast costs for third-party inspection services and report trends to management.
- Communicate test results and quality requirements to the project team.
- Address client concerns and maintain transparent communication about quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel and relocate as needed for project assignments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and high ethical standards.
- Familiarity with construction-related quality control procedures is preferred.
- Certifications such as ASQ, CQM, CQA, or CWI are a plus.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
