About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will work within the MEC Industrial District to learn the core functions of field operations and project delivery. The role involves a mix of office-based planning and field-based supervision to support our industrial construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Manage field engineering tasks, including operation planning, cost control, and project scheduling.
- Perform engineering duties using standard techniques and resolve technical issues that arise during construction.
- Track project quantities, maintain progress records, and monitor material usage.
- Review plans and specifications to calculate material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time.
- Investigate reported incidents and recommend practical solutions.
- Assist with contract administration and the supervision of field activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer months from May through August.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as needed for project assignments.
- Capability to access all areas of a construction site across various climates and environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team or independently.
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity in all work tasks.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when project schedules require it.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, though project assignments may vary.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship for the Summer 2027 term.
