About the role#
This is a full-time internship focused on field operations within our Power market. You will gain hands-on experience in construction management by working on mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial systems. This position requires you to be open to frequent travel and relocation as project needs change.
What you'll do#
- Support administrative and construction tasks assigned by your supervisor.
- Review project proposals, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Perform material takeoffs and prepare cost estimates.
- Attend pre-bid investigation meetings.
- Learn to supervise subcontractors and coordinate with vendors.
- Prepare work plans and manage equipment scheduling.
- Administer safety programs and ensure quality control.
- Track project costs and materials while maintaining owner relations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand project scheduling or cost control.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with software like SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- High motivation and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Knowledge of federal and OSHA construction safety requirements is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Lenexa, Kansas, but requires the ability to travel and relocate as business requires.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- You must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
