You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop test methods, write code, and integrate laboratory instruments. This role provides exposure to high-voltage and high-power systems, including equipment operating up to 2 kV and 1 MW. You will work in a laboratory environment under the direction of qualified staff while following established safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Perform electrical testing, collect data, and document findings against requirements.
- Support environmental design-validation testing, including temperature, humidity, altitude, vibration, and mechanical shock.
- Write, debug, and maintain test programs, instrument-control scripts, and data-logging tools.
- Assist in the design, assembly, and validation of automated test sets.
- Control laboratory instruments using environments like Python, C#, MATLAB, or VBA.
- Troubleshoot test software, fixtures, wiring, and custom interface hardware.
- Adhere to high-voltage and high-power safety practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program for electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
- Coursework or project experience in analog circuits, digital systems, electronics, or measurement techniques.
- Programming experience in environments such as Python, C#, C/C++, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or VBA.
- Experience with laboratory instruments like oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, or data-acquisition equipment.
- Ability to analyze data and create clear engineering documentation.
- Interest in design validation, automated testing, and hardware or software problem solving.
- Preferred: Experience with instrument automation (SCPI, VISA, serial, Ethernet, GPIB), power electronics, PCB schematic capture, or 3D modeling software.
- Preferred: Participation in engineering clubs or project teams like Formula SAE, robotics, or IEEE.
Location & details#
- Location: Budd Lake, New Jersey, United States.
