About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in Acute Psych, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to protect and promote patient health. You will assist the healthcare team in providing care and advocating for patients and their families. This role involves performing basic bedside tasks and nursing procedures while gaining clinical experience in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and other healthcare providers to support care plans.
- Perform basic bedside care, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Collect and record vital signs, weights, heights, and intake or output data.
- Document all care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Participate in crash cart checks, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency responses.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist with body transport to the morgue.
- Report any changes in a patient's condition to licensed staff immediately.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program with completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or the 4th semester for BSN students.
- Current BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your nursing school or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- A current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to maintain and submit updated transcripts to HR each term.

- Location: Visalia, California.
- Schedule: Part-time, 12-hour evening shifts.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
