About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in Acute Psych, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to protect and promote health, prevent injury, and alleviate suffering. You will partner with the nursing team to provide holistic care and advocate for patients and their families. This role requires working night shifts in a 12-hour format.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to formulate care plans.
- Perform bedside care and nursing procedures under the supervision of an RN.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, including room orientation.
- Support activities of daily living such as bathing, ambulation, oral care, and meals.
- Monitor and record intake, output, weight, height, and vital signs.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Document care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with emergency care, including crash cart checks, CPR, and responding to Code Blue.
- Report changes in patient condition or family concerns to licensed staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program with completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Current BLS certification.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program or current employment at Kaweah Health while enrolled in a specific Kaweah Health/Unitek nursing program.
- A current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.
- Ability to submit updated transcripts to HR each term and notify management of any changes in program enrollment.
