About the role#
This internship provides technical support for emulsion polymerization at our chemical manufacturing site. You will learn to use advanced instrumentation including FT-IR, DTA, DSC, TGA, GC, and UV spectroscopy while working with our production teams.
What you'll do#
- Maintain the GC database for MA-2 and MA-3 grades, covering rubber, latex, and dry powder.
- Conduct lab graft polymerization in 8L reactors to help optimize MBS grades.
- Build a database that characterizes latex properties like pH and viscosity alongside powder properties such as VM and ASG.
- Monitor daily plant production and track process abnormalities to ensure performance.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Keep material addition records current by calculating batch size, conversion, and percent solids.
- Participate in daily production meetings and weekly grade separation meetings to track action items.
