About the role#
Kairos Power is offering Summer 2027 internships for students to join various mechanical engineering teams. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on technical projects that contribute to the development of advanced nuclear energy solutions. Opportunities exist across several areas, including engineering test, manufacturing, mechanical design, reliability, systems integration, and quality engineering.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, analysis, testing, and optimization of mechanical systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, and project managers to support engineering projects.
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and perform engineering analyses to validate designs and inform technical decisions.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Support the fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and testing of prototypes.
- Participate in troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and engineering design reviews.
- Assist with quality checks and inspections to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom through research, laboratory work, or extracurricular projects.
- Familiarity with prototyping, fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering testing equipment.
- Exposure to engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Basic proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
