About the role#
Kairos Power is offering internship opportunities for Summer 2027 across various mechanical engineering teams. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on technical projects that contribute to the development of advanced nuclear energy technologies. You will participate in engineering design reviews, multidisciplinary discussions, and hands-on technical work to support the company mission.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, analysis, testing, and optimization of mechanical systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, and project managers.
- Conduct experiments, collect data, and perform engineering analyses to validate designs and inform technical decisions.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Support the fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and testing of prototypes.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause investigations to resolve engineering and manufacturing challenges.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom through research, lab work, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with prototyping, fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering testing equipment.
- Exposure to engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Basic proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Ability to work on-site in a full-time capacity.
