About the role#
Kairos Power is offering a Summer 2027 internship for students to join the Electrical Engineering team. This role provides hands-on experience supporting the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operation of instrumentation and control systems for the Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor. Interns will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams on measurement instrumentation, automated digital control systems, and process automation technologies.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operation of instrumentation and control systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure effective integration of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Perform data collection, analysis, interpretation, and documentation to support engineering and project objectives.
- Contribute to the preparation, review, and presentation of technical reports and engineering documentation.
- Support laboratory testing, equipment commissioning, system validation, prototyping, and troubleshooting activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom through laboratory work, research, extracurricular projects, or prior internship/work experience.
- Experience with control system software such as LabVIEW, PLCs, or similar automation platforms.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
