About the role#
Kairos Power is offering a Summer 2027 internship within our Civil Structures team. You will work on the design, analysis, and development of advanced reactor structures. This position provides hands-on experience with engineering analysis, structural design, and experimental methods alongside experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Apply building codes and engineering standards to civil and structural projects.
- Perform structural analyses and engineering calculations using hand methods and software like ANSYS.
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
- Write engineering reports and technical documentation to support design activities.
- Work with engineers across multiple disciplines to support testing and design development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills as a self-starter.
- Experience with Python or Excel Macros is a plus.

- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Alameda, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; or Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
