Campus AI Research Engineer – Research Automation (Intern)

About the role#

Jump Trading is seeking a Campus AI Research Engineer to join our Research Automation team. This role focuses on implementing research projects from concept to production, improving model design, and enhancing infrastructure. You will work within a collaborative environment that values intellectual curiosity and pragmatic engineering to solve complex problems in global financial markets.

What you'll do#

• Apply state-of-the-art techniques to complex, challenging domains.
• Build flexible, reusable frameworks for financial machine learning in collaboration with researchers and quants.
• Optimize training pipelines to maximize the efficiency of high-performance computing (HPC) resources.
• Integrate machine learning models into production systems where latency is a critical factor.
• Develop large-scale ML systems that are performant, observable, and flexible using C, C++, Python, and CUDA.
• Reduce iteration cycle times to improve overall research productivity.

What you'll need#

• A strong publication record at major conferences such as ICML, ICLR, AAAI, NeurIPS, UAI, or KDD.
• A deep background in machine learning, including exposure to modern deep learning techniques.
• Solid software development skills in Python and/or C++.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• The ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with quantitative researchers.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
