About the role#
This is a hands-on engineering co-op at our Blythewood facility. You will work with our engineering team to support plant objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role involves continuous improvement efforts based on the Koyo Production System. The position is full-time during the summer and can be part-time during the school semester to align with your academic schedule.
What you'll do#
- Solve manufacturing challenges for new and existing products.
- Design and develop tooling, mechanisms, and equipment for metalworking and other processes.
- Provide engineering support for scrap reduction, productivity improvements using Lean tools, machine builds, and quality enhancements.
- Collaborate with management, technicians, production teams, the machine shop, and maintenance groups.
- Maintain database records and support 5S, Kaizen, TS16949, and ISO14000 initiatives.
- Work overtime or weekends when needed to support essential operations.
What you'll need#
- You are a current college student pursuing an engineering degree or a recent engineering graduate.
- Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Creo and AutoCAD.
- Ability to apply engineering theory to practical manufacturing tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and business awareness.
- Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Blythewood, South Carolina.
- Work is on-site.
- You will spend time in both office and manufacturing environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
