About the role#
This summer internship offers a hands-on experience within our oncology research and development team. You will focus on drug-device combination products, working alongside scientists and engineers to support the design, development, and characterization of these technologies. This role provides experience in experimental design, laboratory testing, and data analysis within a pharmaceutical R&D setting.
What you'll do#
- Plan and conduct benchtop experiments to evaluate the performance and functionality of combination products.
- Develop and prepare placebo formulations and materials for testing.
- Evaluate the mechanical and physical properties of placebo materials.
- Perform mechanical characterization and comparative testing to understand material and device performance.
- Conduct functional benchtop testing, including device insertion, removal, and deployment.
- Optimize experimental methods, test setups, and protocols.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data while maintaining accurate laboratory records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and present project results to the R&D team.
- Attend the Bench to Bedside Lecture Series to learn about the drug development process.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Completion of at least four semesters of undergraduate coursework at the start of the internship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Must not be graduating before, during, or after the internship period.
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft business applications and Slack.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
