About the role#
This co-op position offers an opportunity to work on the ECMO development team at Johnson & Johnson. You will support the creation of medical technology designed for patients with critical heart and lung conditions. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Halethorpe, Maryland, running from January 11, 2027, to June 25, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and implementation of embedded software for a class II medical device.
- Construct and maintain software requirements.
- Design and implement software interfaces.
- Develop test cases and perform unit and integration testing.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your third year of undergraduate study by the start of the co-op.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Python through coursework or projects.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions, and work as a reliable team player.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Familiarity with embedded systems, electronics, or data acquisition is a plus.
- Exposure to version control systems like Git and issue tracking is preferred.
- Experience with regulated industries, quality systems, or medical devices is an asset.
