About the role#
The ECP Product Development Engineering Co-op works with a cross-functional team to develop heart pump and vascular access technologies. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and evaluating medical device components, test fixtures, and engineering concepts.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute bench testing, including feasibility, characterization, simulated-use, and design verification.
- Develop and improve test methods by defining procedures, selecting equipment, and troubleshooting setups.
- Create and iterate mechanical designs for product components and test fixtures using 3D CAD.
- Support prototype fabrication through 3D printing, machining, or other rapid-prototyping methods.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to identify trends or failure modes.
- Support root cause investigations and design improvements.
- Document test procedures, experimental results, and engineering conclusions in technical reports.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and enthusiasm for laboratory work, building test setups, and troubleshooting hardware.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical design, engineering mechanics, experimental methods, and data analysis.
- Experience with 3D CAD software.
- Ability to organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
- Prior experience with prototyping, machining, 3D printing, or medical device projects is preferred.
- Experience with statistical analysis software is a plus.
