About the role#
The Process Science Modeling & Data team within Manufacturing Science & Technology partners with scientists and engineers to solve complex process challenges. You will contribute to projects focused on spectroscopy-based modeling and analytics for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Your primary goal is to transition existing modeling workflows into scalable tools that support data-driven decision making across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain libraries for spectroscopy data processing, model development, and deployment.
- Create workflows, user guides, and technical documentation to support tool adoption.
- Apply software engineering standards such as testing, version control, and modular architecture.
- Develop and assess machine learning and chemometric approaches for bioreactor process parameters.
- Review literature on spectroscopy, chemometrics, and PAT applications in bioprocessing.
- Present technical findings, software demonstrations, and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a PhD program in Chemical, Biochemical, Biological, Biomedical, or Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemometrics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.
- Proficiency in Python for developing packages used by multiple projects.
- Experience with software engineering practices like Git, testing frameworks, and code review.
- Knowledge of multivariate analytical methods such as LWR, PCA, and PLS.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Raman spectroscopy, PAT techniques, mammalian cell culture, or bioprocess development.
- Preferred: Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, documentation pipelines, and large scientific datasets.
