As a member of the Maintenance team, the PLC Co-op reports to the PLC Specialist. This position focuses on designing control systems for new machinery, as well as troubleshooting and modifying existing equipment. You will contribute to continuous improvement projects and work closely with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and implement control systems.
- Program PLCs, including Allen Bradley and Siemens systems.
- Program HMI, servo systems, VFDs, robotics, and automation systems.
- Program and troubleshoot vision systems, including IR vision, Cognex, Keyence, and Omron.
- Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Instruct maintenance personnel on the use and functionality of automation systems.
- Mentor licensed electricians in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Assist in automation cell improvements and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety and environmental practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a three-year advanced diploma or degree program in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Completion of coursework involving programming.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data presentation software.
- Strong English language proficiency.

- Location: Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling co-op term.
- Compensation: Paid position ($22 – $25 per hour).
