About the role#
The Data Engineering Intern will join the DRIVE Data Team at Southeast Toyota Finance. This role offers hands-on experience with enterprise data, software development, and modern data platforms. You will work alongside data engineers and product owners to support automation, development, and testing initiatives. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Build and enhance internal tools and automation scripts to streamline team processes.
- Support the development of data pipelines, transformations, and reporting solutions.
- Develop and execute test cases for data and application changes.
- Identify defects and support quality assurance efforts.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, refinement sessions, and demos.
- Complete assigned tasks within Azure DevOps.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, such as runbooks, data dictionaries, and process guides.
- Complete and present a summer showcase project to SETF BU IT leadership.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or other degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university.
- Completion of at least one semester of coursework.
- Studies in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Foundational programming skills in Python, SQL, or C#.
- Familiarity with databases, version control tools like Git, and basic software testing concepts.
- Curiosity, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.
- Preferred coursework or project experience in data engineering, analytics, or automation.
- Exposure to cloud or modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Power BI.

- This position is located on-site in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
- The internship runs from May 24, 2027, through July 30, 2027.
- This is a full-time position.
