About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in reliability engineering and asset management within a large life science facility. You will support the Maintenance and Reliability Excellence Program, with approximately 90% of your time dedicated to field work. This role focuses on the fundamentals of data-driven maintenance operations and asset tracking.
What you'll do#
- Physically tag untagged equipment across the facility portfolio and document locations to support maintenance planning.
- Conduct field surveys to verify asset attributes including manufacturer, model, serial numbers, nameplate specifications, physical conditions, and capacity.
- Identify discrepancies between physical assets and database records, update CMMS systems, and resolve data gaps or duplicate entries.
- Monitor and analyze building systems performance data to identify reliability trends and opportunities for preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Develop field data collection templates and procedures while documenting equipment performance and maintenance activities.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or an associate's degree with relevant technical certifications.
- A basic understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems, such as HVAC, power distribution, plumbing, and fire safety.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering principles.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, which includes climbing ladders and accessing mechanical spaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Permanent US work authorization.
