About the role#
This Federal Work Study position supports the Community Solutions initiative. You will provide direct assistance to community members through resource navigation and technology support. This role is a part-time, paid position available to current students.
What you'll do#
- Help individuals find housing resources, shelters, and food pantries.
- Assist with applications for utility assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF.
- Connect people with mental health and substance abuse services.
- Create and distribute resource guides and conduct outreach.
- Troubleshoot computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Perform basic maintenance like removing malware, installing updates, and setting up printers.
- Assist with email issues, password recovery, and software setup.
- Lead workshops on cybersecurity and provide technology training for seniors.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current Ivy Tech student.
- You need a high school diploma or GED.
- You must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at the Valparaiso or Michigan City locations.
- You must have a current FAFSA on file.
- You must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid office.
- You must maintain satisfactory Academic Progress.
