About the role#
We are looking for an R&D Co-op student for the Winter 2027 term. This full-time position is based in Mississauga, Ontario. You will report to the R&D Team Leader and assist our team in polymer formulation development, product testing, and field failure analysis.
What you'll do#
- Develop new and existing vinyl formulations.
- Evaluate physical, mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties of polymers like PVC, CPVC, ABS, PE, PP, and PVDF.
- Help source raw material ingredients through evaluation projects.
- Participate in extrusion and injection molding trials.
- Use analytical tools to identify the root cause of product failures.
- Apply statistical analysis tools to validate your findings.
- Write technical lab reports and present experimental results to the team.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and update project records in Filemaker Pro.
- Support 5S initiatives to keep the laboratory environment clean and organized.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field in Materials or Polymer Science.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- A structured, results-oriented, and professional mindset.
- Previous co-op experience in a plastics or R&D environment is preferred.
- Experience with DOE or statistical tools like Minitab is an asset.
