About the role#
This is an eight-month internship for students pursuing degrees in Accounting or Finance. You will join the tax team to gain hands-on exposure to Canadian, U.S., and international tax matters. The position runs from January 2027 to August 2027 and reports to the Senior Tax Manager.
What you'll do#
- Prepare T2 Canadian federal and provincial corporate income tax returns.
- Prepare T3 Trust Income Tax and Information Returns.
- Assist with T5013 Partnership Information Returns and Statements of Partnership Income.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly GST/HST reconciliations and returns.
- Collect, organize, and validate tax information from internal and external clients.
- Conduct research on various tax issues.
- Assist with responses to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Review and analyze U.S. and foreign tax documents.
- Support tax know-your-client requests, including FATCA reporting.
- Prepare foreign withholding tax reclaim applications.
- Update and prepare tax memoranda.
- Assist with pre-tax-season preparation and post-tax-season filing projects.
- Support other tax-related ad hoc projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Accounting or Finance program.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- A collaborative mindset and positive attitude.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience preparing T2, T3, and T5013 returns is preferred.
- Experience with CCH iFirm or Taxprep is preferred.
