About the role#
The Youth Futures Program supports the academic and social needs of refugee and asylee youth at Clarkston High School. Interns assist with an after-school program that focuses on homework help, social-emotional learning, and academic support to foster student success.
What you'll do#
- Support IRC staff with daily program delivery and logistics.
- Help students with homework, college applications, resume writing, and job searches.
- Plan and prepare for Youth Futures events, field trips, and workshops.
- Engage with students to provide an enriching and supportive academic and social environment.
- Maintain program documentation, update resource lists, and enter data into databases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, or Political Science.
- Experience working with youth or young adults.
- Excellent communication and writing skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Interest in international and refugee issues, with sensitivity for working in a multi-cultural setting.
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, GA (On-site at Clarkston High School).
- Term: Fall 2026 (Begins the week of September 8, 2026).
- Commitment: 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- Status: This is an unpaid internship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
