About the role#
The Youth Futures Program provides academic and social support to refugee and asylee youth at Clarkston High School. This internship focuses on fostering academic success and social-emotional growth through after-school programming. Interns will work in person to help students navigate their schoolwork, college applications, and career preparation.
What you'll do#
- Support IRC staff with program delivery and daily logistics for activities, field trips, and workshops.
- Engage with students to provide an enriching, supportive academic and social environment.
- Assist high school youth with homework, college applications, resume writing, and job searches.
- Plan and prepare for Youth Futures events.
- Maintain program documentation, enter data into databases, and update resource contacts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or background in fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, or Political Science.
- Excellent communication and writing skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Genuine interest in international and refugee issues.
- Prior experience working with youth or young adults is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia (in-person at Clarkston High School).
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning the week of September 8, 2026.
- Commitment: 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- Status: This is an unpaid internship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
