Fall 2026 Immigrant Youth Casework Intern

About the role#

The Immigrant Youth Casework Intern supports the Miami-Dade Immigrant Youth team in delivering essential services to immigrant children and their families. This role focuses on connecting clients with community resources to enhance self-sufficiency while participating in outreach initiatives. Interns will gain experience in trauma-informed, client-centered care, community asset mapping, and advocacy. This is an unpaid, hybrid position requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least 3 consecutive months.

What you'll do#

• Assist caseworkers with school enrollment, public benefits applications, and client advocacy.
• Conduct research on local community resources and perform outreach to establish partnerships.
• Manage client case notes and maintain accurate files.
• Communicate case statuses and coordinate service plans with supervisors.

What you'll need#

• Excellent communication and writing skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Strong interest in international issues and a desire to help others.
• Computer literacy, preferably with PC systems, and reliable internet access.
• Must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle for travel within the Miami-Dade region.
• Pursuing a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Communications, Human Resources, Public Health, International Relations, or Criminal Justice.

Location & details#

• Location: Miami, Florida (Hybrid).
• Internship Term: Fall 2026 (beginning the week of September 8, 2026).
• Schedule: Primarily weekdays, 9AM to 5PM, with occasional weekend activities.
