About the role#
The Fall 2026 Casework Intern will support the Resettlement Services team at the International Rescue Committee in Atlanta. This role involves assisting case managers with the delivery of core resettlement services to newly arrived refugees. The intern will gain direct experience in humanitarian support by helping clients navigate their initial transition and adjustment to life in the United States.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Case Management team to provide core resettlement services.
- Assist with the quality assurance process, including scanning and uploading client documents.
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments, grocery shopping, or other essential needs.
- Conduct wellness checks and deliver important documentation to client homes.
- Assist with client walk-in days and screening processes.
- Provide general administrative support, including writing case notes and maintaining documentation.
What you'll need#
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Genuine interest in international and refugee issues.
- Enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting and a strong desire to help others.
- Proficiency with PC systems.
- A valid driver's license and access to a car are beneficial.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning the week of September 8, 2026.
- Commitment: 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- Requirements: Must pass a background check and submit hours via the volunteer portal.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. The IRC does not provide sponsorship for work authorization.
