About the role#
The Career Development Intern supports the Economic Empowerment Department by helping refugee and immigrant clients move beyond entry-level roles into skilled career pathways. This role involves direct client interaction, career counseling, and administrative support to facilitate long-term professional growth for those resettling in the Atlanta area. This is an unpaid internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist clients individually and in groups to define career pathways and advancement goals.
- Work one-on-one with clients to develop and refine resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
- Guide clients through the enrollment process for post-secondary training and certification programs.
- Prepare clients for job interviews and accompany them to interviews or employment orientations.
- Research local industries, employers, and workforce trends in Atlanta.
- Provide general administrative support and maintain accurate program records.
- Propose and develop additional support services to meet client needs.
What you'll need#
- Strong interest in working with international clients and respect for cross-cultural differences.
- Proficiency in resume writing, LinkedIn, and employment-related activities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and use Microsoft Office programs.
- Enthusiasm for helping others and professional demeanor.
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to commit to 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- Successful completion of a background check.
