About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship based in Timmins, Ontario. You will work on-site during the Summer 2027 term. This position is designed for students who want to apply their academic background to real-world forestry operations and spatial data projects.
What you'll do#
- Support forest planning and operational forestry projects.
- Assist with planning activities for harvesting and road construction programs.
- Create, update, and analyze maps and spatial data to guide forestry decisions.
- Connect field information with GIS technology to improve forest records.
- Build technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills alongside experienced professionals.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a degree or diploma in Forestry, GIS, Geography, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related program.
- Experience with GIS tools such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to analyze information and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.
- Capacity to take ownership of high-quality work and solve problems independently.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to travel to remote operations and a valid driver’s license.
