About the role#
The Roadway Design Intern will join our team for a 12-week internship in the Raleigh office. You will work alongside our Roadway team to gain real-world experience in civil and transportation engineering. Interns are paired with experienced staff members who provide guidance, training, and regular feedback throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data for road and highway designs.
- Perform roadway and highway design calculations.
- Assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications.
- Help project managers with design reviews, permitting, and proposal efforts.
- Participate in investigative analyses for assigned design tasks.
What you'll need#
- Active pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation Inroads/Geopak, or OpenRoads.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- A valid driver license and a safe driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and background screening.

- Location: Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Modality: This is an on-site position requiring attendance at the office 5 days a week.
- Schedule: Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Employment type: Paid, full-time internship.
