About the role#
Infineon Technologies is hiring an Assembly Equipment Engineer intern to work on-site at our Leominster, Massachusetts facility. This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term. You will work directly with back-end semiconductor assembly equipment to ensure our production systems run reliably.
What you'll do#
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair assembly equipment and peripheral systems using electrical and mechanical techniques.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and component replacements to keep equipment uptime high.
- Assist production teams with equipment setup, changeovers, and root cause analysis.
- Support Lean and kaizen initiatives to improve equipment throughput and yield.
- Record maintenance actions and log fault data to guide future repairs.
- Identify unsafe conditions, follow lockout/tagout and EHS procedures, and promote shop floor safety.
- Work with minimal supervision, escalating complex issues to senior engineers when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progress toward a BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, power tools, and basic CAD or schematic reading.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, actuators, and electromechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in a lab or shop setting.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, and communicate clearly in verbal and written formats.
- Commitment to shop safety practices and EHS policies.
- You must be a US citizen or permanent resident to access export-controlled documentation.
